My mother is a former drug addict and alcoholic, she just spent 5 years in a state prison and now she is out. She is on the road to recovery, she has been clean 30 days, but it isn't just her that is on a journey and it isn't just her that was affected by her addictions, prison time, and her recovery.
Being the daughter of a addict isn't easy and it isn't always pretty. Our time together was rocky and rough, but now things are suppose to be different; however, that doesn't make the road smooth.
I have always been a writer and one to release my emotions through text and I figure this situation shouldn't be any different. As a child it was my job to hide my mother's addiction. As an adult, I have a independence, a freedom, and no one can take that from me.
